Vivien Lee Austria was appointed by the College Editors Guild of the Philippines to become the country's first representative in the Miss World pageant in 1966. At the time she was appointed, she was pursuing a law degree, having already completed a bachelor's degree in journalism and law. Vivien comes from a mixed background; her father, Vicente Austria, was a major in the Philippine Army and descends from a Maranao royal family, while her mother is of Spanish and American background. Vivien is also recognized as a princess in her Maranao Muslim community and is known as "Emraida Kiram". The petite beauty soon represented the Philippines in the Miss World 1966 pageant held in London, United Kingdom.


Minerva Cagatao won the title of Miss Republic of the Philippines 1971. Hailing from the province of Isabela, she was pursuing a degree in medical technology at the time she won the national title. Minerva soon became the Philippines' delegate in the Miss World 1970 pageant held in London, United Kingdom. Noted for her long black hair that reaches her hips, the dusky beauty was announced as among the Top 15 semi-finalists.


After the pageant, Minerva did modeling jobs back in the Philippines and in 1971, appeared in a local film, "Europe Here We Come".


Evangeline Pascual won the title of Miss Republic of the Philippines 1974. Hailing from Bataan, Evangeline has been working as a model and her hobbies included karate and dart-throwing. The towering beauty soon became the Philippines' representative in the Miss World 1973 pageant held in London, United Kingdom. A favorite during the pageant, Evangeline notably wore a custom swimsuit that featured the colors of the Philippine flag. She eventually finished as 2nd place, being the runner-up of the pageant.


Upon her return home to the Philippines, Evangeline continued her modeling career and also ventured into acting. Months later, the Miss World 1973 titleholder has been dismissed and the pageant organizers offered Evangeline the duties of Miss World, to which she declined. Evangeline continued her entertainment career and also became a radio host and an art painter.


In 1992, Binibining Pilipinas became the license holder of the Miss World pageant in the Philippines. Marina Benipayo, who won the title of Binibining Pilipinas Maja 1992, was appointed to represent the Philippines in the Miss World 1992 pageant, after the original representative had to withdrew due to illness. Marina hails from Quezon City and before winning the title, she was pursuing a degree in international studies while also working as a print and commercial model. The towering, porcelain-skinned beauty soon became the Philippines' delegate in the Miss World 1992 pageant held in Sun City, South Africa.


After her reign, Marina continued with her modeling career and soon became active in the local entertainment industry as an actress.


Sharmaine Ruffa Gutierrez won the title of Binibining Pilipinas World 1993. Born in Manila, she comes from a mixed-race Filipino family with Spanish and Canadian roots. A popular actress in the Philippines, she is the daughter of Eddie Gutierrez, a veteran actor in the local film and entertainment industry. Ruffa soon became the Philippines' delegate in the Miss World 1993 pageant held in Sun City, South Africa. Noted for her charisma and elegance, the statuesque beauty soon became a favorite during the pageant, eventually finishing as 2nd runner-up.


After the pageant, Ruffa continued her career in the local entertainment industry. Aside from acting in TV and films, she also became active in modeling, TV hosting and had a reality show with her family members.


Caroline Subijano won the title of Binibining Pilipinas World 1994. Before winning the national title, she was based in California, where she completed a degree in political science. Nicknamed "Cara", she has also done modeling jobs in the Philippines. The statuesque, ivory-skinned beauty soon became the Philippines' delegate in the Miss World 1994 pageant held in Sun City, South Africa. A favorite during the pageant, Cara finished among the Top 10 semi-finalists.


After her reign, Cara relocated to the United States and became a news anchor for a Filipino American news network.


Reham Snow Tago won the title of Binibining Pilipinas World 1995. At the time she won the national title, she was pursuing a degree in political science. Born to a Filipino father and an Egyptian mother, Reham is fluent in English, Tagalog and Arabic. The stunning, mixed-race beauty soon represented the Philippines in the Miss World 1995 pageant.


Maria Rafaela Verdadero Yunon won the title of Binibining Pilipinas World 2003. Nicknamed  "Mafae", she was born in Manila and moved to New South Wales, Australia, with her family at a young age. Finishing a tourism degree, she relocated back in the Philippines to compete in the Binibining Pilipinas 2003 pageant. She is the niece of Desiree Verdadero, also a Binibining Pilipinas titleholder and was the Philippines' delegate in the Miss Universe 1984 pageant. Aside from English and Tagalog, Mafae also speaks French, Japanese and Spanish. Mafae soon became the Philippines' delegate in the Miss World 2003 pageant held in Sanya, China. A favorite during the pageant, the dusky beauty finished among the Top 5 finalists.


Carlene Ang Aguilar (洪巧玲) won the title of Binibining Pilipinas World 2005. Born and raised in Quezon City, Carlene comes from a multicultural family; her father is Filipino while her mother is of Chinese descent. She is fluent in English, Tagalog and Mandarin. Before winning the national title, Carlene was pursuing a degree in art studies. A pageant veteran, she has won a number of beauty titles and has competed in an international level. The stunning Filipino Chinese beauty soon represented the Philippines in the Miss World 2005 pageant held in Sanya, China and was among the Top 15 semi-finalists.


After her reign, Carlene became active in the local entertainment industry and has appeared in several films and TV shows.


Pageant trivia from the book "The World of Miss Universe", authored by Ana Maria Cumba, the Brazilian chaperone of Miss Universe winners during the 1960's until early 1970's.


During the Miss Universe 1973 pageant, one of the judges was Manuel Benítez Pérez, a famous bullfighter from Spain, known as El Cordobés, shared that Miss Philippines, Margarita Moran, was not among his shortlisted favorites.


However, during the one-on-one interview portion in the preliminary competition, El Cordobes became very impressed with Miss Philippines after learning that the Asian beauty spoke fluent Spanish. Because of this lasting impression, Margarita became his top favorite during the pageant finals.
